Beloved: Reader Response

I'm glad to see I am not the only one who found this book tiring. I browsed the reviews on Amazon and they were generic flattery. Reviews are overwhelmingly just descriptions which are just the back cover in their own words. I agree with the reviews which describe it as "tedious" and"uneventful." I find the slave dialect to be minor detail made into a large nuisance. The writing is easy to understand but the accent makes it easy to misinterpret. I strongly agree with the reviews which describe the character Beloved as unnecessarily complex. I, and seemingly several others, are unclear on what manner of creature Beloved is. I think 4/5 stars is a bit generous, and I suspect it's because people want others to know they enjoyed a book written by an award-winning author.
Barnes and Noble gives it 4/5 stars as well. People who give it 5 stars have the least to say about it other than "good," or "amazing." 3/5 and 4/5 reviews are willing to go into detail, usually saying it was well-written, but the plot was not great. Apparently on this site a 1 star review is warranted if the customer "can only get this book in Spanish."
Goodreads, a site I am unfamiliar with, gives it 3.8/5 stars. People are mad with this book. They give the typical "uneventful" or "hard to follow." I think this is the preferred site of hipsters and people who just want to make sure people know "it has been a while since I last was online." All the reviews are equally unhelpful and I don't think I agree with any of them.
or some reason I can only get this book in Spanish and I can only read English.
